Check it out:Ĭlassic Male Pregame is essentially just what it sounds like. Lil Dicky filmed in a mansion, on a yacht, in a club, with a Lamborghini, etc. To go along with the song, the music video was produced using as little money as possible. $ave Dat Money can’t really be discussed without mentioning the music video. Dicky thinks that shit is dumb, why overpay for shit? Dicky is accompanied here by Rich Homie Quan and Fetty Wap. It contrasts a typical rapper mentality of bragging about fucking up some commas. Saving money is the obvious message of this song. Parts of this song as well as parts of Who Knew, were both debuted originally as part of the same freestyle on Sway in the Morning in June of 2015, roughly a year before Professional Rapper dropped. There are no breaks, no hooks, just loud, unashamed, comical, quotable bar, after bar, after bar. Look at him now.īruh… is a one verse, 4 minute and 23 second song. Lil Dicky says he still cares about Molly, but I think he knows he made the right choice to pursue his dream of becoming a professional rapper.
Molly wasn’t about the rap that Dicky wanted to pursue, so he had to make a choice. Forget about the 6 figure job he left, Molly was the biggest sacrifice he had to make to pursue his dream. Molly is the most serious song throughout the whole 20 song album that is Proffesional Rapper. The tone of the song is dead serious which beautifully contrasts the sarcasm of bragging about petty crime such as sneaking candy into movies or stealing hotel shampoo bottles. The underlying message here is white privilege, but on the surface, this a song in which Lil Dicky literally lists the petty crimes he commits and gets away with on a regular basis. The premise is immature and stupid yet incredibly entertaining and hilarious which is very common throughout the album. The first time is with a girl he meets at a bar, then again with the same girl who becomes his girlfriend, and lastly as an elderly couple. The premise of the song, is basically just a narrative of Lil Dicky trying to get his dick wet three times. Lemme Freak was one of Lil Dicky’s most popular songs on YouTube before he made the jump to major streaming platforms. Who Knew gives the impression of confidence amidst constant clever comical bars. Before, Lil Dicky was kind of pleading his case to Snoop, here Dicky is rapping as if he knows he’s the shit, and he owns the rap game. Who Knew kind of flips the perspective of Professional Rapper (the song not the album). The 18 songs that follow on the album, are supposed to be the product that comes out of this metaphorical opportunity from Snoop. Snoop is relatively unimpressed, but gives Lil Dicky a chance. Lil Dicky introduces himself, and what he wants to do with the rap game to Snoop. This song is essentially a skit where Lil Dicky has a meeting with rap legend Snoop Dogg. The second song of the album, featuring Snoop Dogg is the track that Lil Dicky named the album after. Professional Rapper has a track list spanning 20 songs so I will not be discussing each each one individually, but rather just some of my favorites, and any that I feel are important to the album or Lil Dicky himself.
He’s doing something arguably brand new, and pretty damn unique. Think of Lil Dicky as a cross between a rapper, and a stand up comedian. He is a white Jewish guy who left a 6 figure job at an advertising job to rap. He attended school In Richmond Virginia, and has spent time living in San Francisco, and LA, in California. Lil Dicky, aka David Burd, is from Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Lil Dicky is kind of the opposite of what most people envision the typical rapper to be. It does not store any personal data.To properly introduce Professional Rapper, I must first introduce Lil Dicky.
